The EPFL Alumni Morocco chapter successfully concluded its flagship event, the Morocco 2030 Roadshow, held from October 15 to 19, 2025. Bringing together EPFL graduates from Morocco and abroad, this three-day immersion spanned the cities of Casablanca, Ben Guerir, Marrakech, and Tangier. The initiative aimed to highlight the reforms and strategic projects that position Morocco as a key hub connecting Africa, Europe, and the rest of the world.

Innovation, Sustainability, and Industrial Strategy at the Heart of Discussions

The Roadshow began with a deep dive into the future of education and research. The delegation visited Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, where they discovered cutting-edge research projects and explored the breadth of the existing partnership with EPFL. The journey continued to Marrakech for an evening of networking and discussions on sustainable tourism with local stakeholders, organized by Mr. Abdelghani Khaldoun, Regional President of the Association des Ingénieurs de l’Ecole Mohammedia (AIEM).

Another highlight was the meeting with Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, in Casablanca. The Minister presented the Kingdom’s industrial strategy, emphasizing opportunities for collaboration and investment, and shedding light on Morocco’s growing influence in Africa’s development. The session was followed by a roundtable on the impact of alumni networks, featuring testimonies from Ms. Maria Hzaine, President of ESCP Business School Alumni, and Mr. Hicham Iraqi Houssaini, Vice-President of AIEM.

World-Class Infrastructure and the Power of Networks

Morocco’s commitment to world-class infrastructure was showcased through a high-speed train journey to Tangier. The delegation visited Tanger Med, the largest port complex in the Mediterranean, and its surrounding industrial zone, home to one of Renault Group’s largest global factories. This visit highlighted the Kingdom’s strong connectivity and industrial and logistical ambitions.

Beyond the economic discoveries, the Roadshow strengthened ties between international EPFL Alumni and those based in Morocco, while also fostering connections with other alumni networks present in the country. Networking moments, including the evening at Riad Diaffa in Marrakech and the meetings at Mövenpick Casablanca, allowed participants to exchange with local actors and explore new collaboration opportunities between alumni and Morocco’s business ecosystem.

A heartfelt thank-you to the entire EPFL Alumni Morocco committee for organizing such a unique and inspiring event!
