On 26 November 2025, the EPFL Alumni community and Forum EPFL celebrated the end of the mentoring programme in lecture hall ELA 1 on EPFL campus. The event marked the final step of a journey that began in spring. The 2025 edition brought together many mentor–mentee pairs, reflecting both the programme’s relevance and the commitment of the community.
What participants shared about the programme
Ahead of the event, a survey was conducted to evaluate participants’ satisfaction. The results show that:
Meetings are regular yet flexible: most pairs meet once a month or less, with conversations generally lasting between 30 and 60 minutes. This rhythm allows both sides to adapt the collaboration to their schedules.
Pairing quality is strong: 83% of mentors and mentees consider their match good or excellent. This confirms that clear expectations matter more than criteria such as study section or geographic proximity.
Notable retention: more than nine mentors out of ten would recommend the programme and intend to participate again. Among mentees, nearly nine out of ten found the experience useful or very useful and reported achieving most of their objectives.
These results confirm that the programme addresses a real need: helping students prepare for their professional transition while giving alumni an opportunity to share their experience.
The testimonials shared by several mentors and mentees during the ceremony highlighted the quality of their exchanges and the mutual commitment that makes the experience valuable for both sides.
A convivial moment to close the evening
After the ceremony, a friendly apéro at Cafétéria Niki allowed discussions to continue and connections to strengthen. This informal moment brought the evening to a pleasant close and set the tone for the next edition.
