EPFL graduates shine in the 2024 Top 100 Swiss Startup Award

The 14th edition of the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award took place in Lausanne on September 4^th, 2024. Among the top 10, six startups are cofounded by EPFL graduates.

Ranking first, DePoly is founded and directed by EPFL alumna Samantha Anderson (PhD CGC’19) and is dedicated to revolutionizing plastic recycling through innovative chemical processes.

In second place, Corintis is cofounded and directed by CEO and alumnus Remco van Erp (PhD MT'22). The company’s goal is to offer major performance and efficiency benefits to existing chips, and is a key enabling technology for future high-performance chips.

In sixth place, Voltiris is cofounded by Dominik Blaser (GM'23) and Jonas Roch (PH'15). Voltiris develops the very first photovoltaic modules for glass greenhouses and it allows for double-land use of greenhouses’ surface, generating electricity with no reduction of crop productivity.

In seventh place, cofounded by Raymond Buser (CGC'07) and Jeremy Luterbacher (CGC'07), Bloom Biorenewables offers a sustainable alternative to replace petroleum in current products. The company also offers innovative products to meet emerging market needs, such as new scents, nutraceuticals or biodegradable bio-plastics.

In eighth place, CEO Paulina Grnarova (IN'15) cofounded DeepJudge, which facilitates rapid access to collective knowledge for legal professionnals and resolving inquiries across clauses, matters, and documents using AI powered search.

In ninth place, CEO Samir Bouabdallah (PhD MA'07) cofounded Flybotix with the help of Alexandre Cherpillod (MT'14). As the winner of the public voting in the Robotics field, Flybotix is dedicated to inspection and digitization of industrial confined space using professional drone-based solutions.

In addition to the startups in the Top 100, two startups also made a significant impact through the public voting.

The award for Robotics start-ups went to Flybotix, while DigeHealth is the winner of the Medtech category and is led by CEO Nour Ghalia Abassi (SC’20). The company specializes in bowel health monitoring by developing a device that allows a continuous, non-invasive bowel monitoring supported by artificial intelligence.
