PowerPlay
Solar, wind, nuclear, fossil fuels, hydrogen, electric cars, building renovation... If there is one complex subject that is widely discussed without always understanding the scale and complexity behind it, energy and climate transition is high on the list. This is what inspired WattEd to develop the serious game PowerPlay, based on reports from scientific agencies, to help everyone understand the scale of the challenge and try their hand at the tricky task of meeting Switzerland's climate goals.
Since its launch in 2023, this workshop, supported by the economic promotion department of the canton of Vaud, has been a resounding success, with more than 1,500 participants and now used as a teaching tool in the EPFL Master's program and at the University of St. Gallen. Whatever the audience (ordinary citizens, business leaders, politicians), enthusiasm and good humor are always guaranteed !
Of course, as in real life, you are not alone in imposing your vision ; you will have to deal with your group colleagues, who may have different visions/aspirations than you. Scientific reasoning, dialogue, and a sense of compromise will be essential if you hope to win the game, but beware, it will not be easy !
No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance.
WattEd
WattEd was founded by Cédric Junillon, an EPFL alumnus (MT'04). He was joined by his partner Jérôme Castella, an economist (UNIFR'16). WattEd was born out of a simple observation: to achieve a successful energy transition, we must make decisions informed by the best available knowledge. In addition to its business consulting activities, WattEd works to disseminate scientific knowledge in an educational and entertaining way, making energy and climate issues appealing and understandable to all audiences.
