On May 16, 2022 we the Basel EPFL Alumni chapter were honored to be welcomed in Basel in the Lonza tower for our first signature event as an independent chapter.

We have among us an exceptional Alumni, Pierre-Alain Ruffieux, who took on the role of CEO at Lonza during the pandemic. And in doing so, found himself responsible for a Swiss company at the center of the vaccine production efforts.

Pierre-Alain Ruffieux, who received an Alumni Award from EPFL in 2021, spoke about innovation at Lonza, his career journey and the responsibility of every leader to attract the best talents in the industry.

In the audience we had about 50 Alumni of a remarkable diversity ranging from fresh graduates, to a 1959 EPUL Alumni and former chemistry teacher at Pierre-Alain Ruffieux’s high-school.

Everyone enjoyed the inspiring speech, the open questions and answers and a rich aperitif generously offered by Lonza.

The positive and very grateful comments of all participants make us enthusiastic for the future of the antenna.
