Learning what value AI, Cloud computing, Blockchain or Open banking can provide to banks has become essential to navigate the finance industry's digital transformation. It is equally important to understand how to leverage these technologies from an organizational, business and human perspective.
Curious to learn more? Join our teaser lecture on “How FinTechs are shaping the future of the financial system”. The 45-minute lecture - given by Prof. A. Fuster, Swiss Finance Institute Professor at EPFL - provides an introduction to the challenges that technological innovation for banks, but also discusses how banks may respond.

Speakers
![]() | Andreas Fuster is an Associate Professor of Finance and SFI Senior Chair at Swiss Finance Institute @ EPFL. Previously, he spent a decade in central banking, first at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and then at the Swiss National Bank. Andreas's main research interests are in empirical finance, macroeconomics, as well as behavioral economics. His recent work has focused in particular on the effects of technological advances on household credit markets and financial intermediation more broadly. Andreas obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University and also holds an M.Phil. from Oxford University and a B.A. from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), all in economics. |
![]() | Kim Vervink is the Program Director of EPFL’s Fintech executive education course. She is currently also a Product Manager at Pictet Alternative Advisors, after having created tools for Advisory banking in a Fintech startup, Evooq SA. Prior to that she was the co-head of the Product Management team of Credit Agricole Private Banking Services. She has a Master in Physics from the University of Antwerp and a PhD of Particle Physics from EPFL. She obtained a Research Fellowship at CERN and was the Deputy Director of the College of Management of Technology at EPFL. |
