Every year, around fifty alumni attend the EPFL Alumni Garden Party, held at the superb Résidence Bois Chamblard in Buchillon (VD). This year's event was a real success with fine weather.
EPFL's climate challenges and sustainability were the central themes of the evening, which was a real source of discoveries in terms of research and education projects. Guests had the opportunity to talk to several members of the school's senior management, including EPFL's President Martin Vetterli, who opened the evening. They were also able to learn more about sustainable initiatives from Jan S. Hesthaven, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, about sustainability in teaching from Pierre Dillenbourg, Associate Vice-President for Education, and about EPFL's sustainable visions from Yasmine Calisesi, Head of EPFL's Energy Centre. During a round table discussion moderated by Michka Mélo, sustainability coach at EPFL, students involved with the school took the floor to share their experiences and motivations in terms of sustainability. Among the projects presented were those of Dominik Blaser, co-founder and CPO of Voltiris, Sarah Planchamp, logistics supervisor for the MAKE rebuiLT project, and Francesca Paola Nicoletti, co-founder of Fix N'Replace.
Finally, Leïla Ojjeh, Director of EPFL Alumni, rounded off the presentation by sharing the latest news from EPFL Alumni, including the introduction of a new Job Board.
The evening ended with a cocktail reception for alumni.
