Campus Lecture by Claudia de Rham (PH'01): “The pursuit of Gravity”.

On Monday, September 30, 2024, we were delighted to welcome Claudia de Rham, cosmologist, researcher and professor at Imperial College London, and winner of an Alumni Award in 2017, for a Campus Lecture entitled “The Pursuit of Gravity. Discover the Secrets of one of the Fundamental Phenomena that Rule the Universe". The event took place at the Forum Rolex Learning Center.

Gravity is one of the fundamental phenomena that governs the Universe, but it still holds many secrets to be discovered. On this occasion, Claudia de Rham presented her new book “La beauté de la chute”, which highlights what we know today about this phenomenon and how the most eminent scientists in the field have devoted their efforts to it. She also shares the highs and lows of her personal journey, the difficult path that led her to become one of the world's most renowned physicists.

About Claudia de Rham
Claudia de Rham is a cosmologist, professor and researcher who graduated in Physics from EPFL in 2001. After completing her thesis at the University of Cambridge and two post-docs in Canada, she joined the Department of Physics at the University of Geneva as a Swiss National Science Foundation grant professor, where she worked from 2010 to 2011. Since 2016, she has been Professor of Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London. Her research on gravitation has made her an international reference in the field of cosmology.
