Nexthink and EPFL have had a fruitful collaboration since 2004, when Pedro Bados and Patrick Hertzog both former EPFL students, founded the company in Lausanne. Today Nexthink is a global leader in digital experience management. The product allows enterprises to create highly productive digital workplaces for their employees by delivering optimal end-user experience. Through a unique combination of real-time analytics, automation and employee feedback across all endpoints, Nexthink helps IT teams meet the needs of the modern digital workplace.

The company employs 1000 people of 75 different nationalities working in Europe, the UK, the USA, the Middle East and India. The collaboration between Nexthink and EPFL has encompassed a wide range of initiatives, including participating in different conferences, knowledge exchange programs, creating internship programs and supporting young talents in their career aspirations.

Different DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) projects are also one of the key priorities within Nexthink. At its core, this initiative seeks to address the gender disparity prevalent in the tech industry by providing resources, mentorship, and opportunities for women to thrive. By offering targeted support, such as internships and networking events, this initiative enables women to enter and navigate the tech world with confidence and resilience. That’s why we are happy to announce our partnership with EPFL Alumni’s Women Club and present you some of the Nexthinkers who once were EPFL students as well:

How long have you been working at Nexthink? Why did you choose Nexthink, and what was your impression of the recruitment process?
I joined Nexthink almost 3 years ago. Throughout my career path, I was always drawn towards opportunities for growth, challenge and innovation. Nexthink, as a dynamic and rapidly growing company, struck me as a place where I can fulfil my professional aspirations, and embark on a journey of continuous professional and personal growth. Furthermore, having several friends that were already working at Nexthink greatly enhanced Nexthink's appeal. They enthusiastically shared their personal experiences and stories about the vibrant and supportive work culture. One of them recommended me for an interesting position that had become available. That unfolded into a positive interviewing process, and the interviewers demonstrated remarkable proficiency in their areas of expertise.

What are you currently working on?
Currently, I am working on the design and development of one of the new features of the Nexthink product known as Nexthink Flow. It enables continuous orchestration from the diagnosis of a problem all the way to its resolution in a dynamic and automated way, minimizing the involvement of the customer. This is an exciting project filled with numerous technical challenges. Working on this project not only offers me a great opportunity to grow and broaden my technical knowledge but also fosters an environment where I can be creative and innovative.

How does working in the IT industry feel like, especially at Nexthink?
Due to its dynamic nature, and ongoing demand for innovation, working in IT can be a highly rewarding and stimulating experience.  IT is a fast-pace-developing industry, that is constantly evolving with new technologies and methodologies which means that there will always be something new to learn. That is exciting, challenging and intellectually stimulating, and requires a person with a growth-oriented mindset and ambitious personality.

How long have you been working at Nexthink? Why did you choose Nexthink, and what was your impression of the recruitment process?
I joined Nexthink in July 2018, so it has been almost 5 years. We moved to Lausanne with my husband for my PhD at EPFL. After I finished the PhD, we wanted to continue to live in the area as we love our lives here. So I started looking for a job, and Nexthink had an opening that matched my competencies. I was really impressed by the speed of the recruitment process. After I submitted the coding exercise, I soon had all my interviews in the office and the same week I got the offer to join Nexthink as a Software Engineer.

What are you currently working on?
I am the Engineering Manager of the Developer Experience (DevEx) group. With the two teams that are part of the DevEx group, we drive initiatives to enhance the developer productivity and experience by optimizing the internal processes and tools of our Engineering department.

How does working in the IT industry feel like, especially at Nexthink?
What I appreciate from working in industry is that you can see the benefits of your ideas and implementations very fast. For our DevEx group, the main customers are our colleagues. Thus, we can put out solutions fast and get immediate feedback to fine-tune them. Moreover, on a personal level, at Nexthink, I had the opportunity to keep on learning and growing significantly throughout all these years, and increase the impact of my work and actions.

How long have you been working at Nexthink? Why did you choose Nexthink, and what was your impression of the recruitment process?
I've been a Nexthinker since October 2018. Near the end of my PhD studies, I supervised a master thesis project done at Nexthink. During the master thesis presentation, I saw a demo and I was mind blown! Nexthink had a data visualization relevant to my research field. As a result, when I completed my PhD, Nexthink was my first choice from the available opportunities. After applying, the recruitment process was pleasant, fast and efficient. In my case, it took around two weeks from the first contact with the recruiter, to receiving the offer.

What are you currently working on?
In these 4.5 years at Nexthink, I've been working on various projects and products, all of which have been both interesting and challenging. Currently, my work revolves around building a cutting-edge visual query editor that empowers our users to efficiently explore and analyze complex digital employee experience data.

How does working in the IT industry feel like, especially at Nexthink?
The IT industry is dynamic and fast paced. It brings many challenges that are actually opportunities to learn something new and grow. At Nexthink, we're empowered to discover and innovate, so we are always ahead of competition. In my role, it is truly fulfilling to have direct impact on shaping new products that contribute to the continuous success of the company.
