The thought of negotiating with a potential employer leaves many people paralysed. What is acceptable? Will they rescind the offer if I try to negotiate? Can I only negotiate on salary? How do I calculate total compensation? These are just some of the many questions that come to mind when a contract negotiation approaches.

This workshop will give a broader understanding of what a contract negotiation entails and what a candidate can negotiate on. It will provide tips and advice to optimise the negotiation process for a successful outcome. It will also aim to dispel some age-old myths about negotiating and have a section dedicated to women in negotiating.

Topics covered in the workshop:

  • What is contract negotiation?
  • Debunking common limiting beliefs.
  • Understanding the different forms of financial compensation.
  • Understanding what constitutes benefits.
  • How to approach a contract negotiation?
  • The process of optimising success in a negotiation.
  • Having the right mindset.

This workshop is for you if:

Catherine Canales

Catherine is on a mission to help women get paid what they deserve. She is a seasoned business development professional and sales leader with over 25 years of experience in various commercial roles. During her career Catherine has witnessed how women often shy away from negotiating for higher salaries, promotions, and other job opportunities due to people pleasing, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome. She believes that the time is long overdue for women to get what they want and what they are worth, in the most unapologetic way. Being a good negotiator is more critical now than ever in this increasingly connected and competitive world.

Catherine is the founder of NoGap.world, a salary negotiation practice that provides bespoke support to women so that they can confidently navigate the job offer negotiation process or get their long-deserved promotion without rocking the boat. She is also a coach, mentor, and trainer and a thought leader and advocate for female leadership.

Catherine helps women increase their confidence and self-belief and give them practical tools and techniques to embrace their career negotiations sitting in the driver’s seat. She also supports them in overcoming work-related challenges such as maternity penalty, casual sexism, and other forms of discrimination that may affect their career prospects.
