Exclusive visit to the Lugano Regional Hospital
Dear EPFL Alumni,
We invite you to a unique opportunity to get an up-close look at one of the leading players in healthcare innovation in Ticino: the EOC, and specifically the Lugano Regional Hospital.
In addition to playing a key role in training healthcare professionals and serving as a center of excellence for the postgraduate training of medical specialists, since the 2020–2021 academic year, the Cantonal Hospital Authority (EOC) has been a training partner of USI and ETHZ for the Master’s in Human Medicine. Furthermore, the EOC continues to evolve within a Swiss and international healthcare landscape under increasing pressure, in a field of medicine that is increasingly personalized, precision-oriented, specialized, technologically advanced, and interdisciplinary—yet at the same time patient-centered.
Today, the hospital is undergoing a period of profound transformation, with significant developments in infrastructure, research, and digitalization.
The tour will be led by Emanuele Dati, Director of the Lugano Regional Hospital, the Institute of Clinical Neurosciences, and the Institute of Pharmacological Sciences, who will guide us in exploring the main challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector.
During the tour, we will focus in particular on:
- The Development of Public Health in the Canton of Ticino and the Role of the Cantonal Reference Hospital in Lugano
- Research and Development of Innovative Technologies and Digitalization in Patient Care in Italian-speaking Switzerland
- The Evolution of Hospital Infrastructure and Preparing for Future Healthcare Needs
This event is open to all alumni interested in innovation and development in the healthcare sector.
The visit will conclude with a convivial cocktail reception—an ideal opportunity to meet other alumni, exchange experiences, and expand your professional network.
