On Thursday, July 20, 2023, 25 alumni and alumnae were able to discover Geneva's famous Jet d'eau in a whole new way and witness its activation at the start of the day during a guided tour by the SIG.
The tour included a look at the two pumps that propel the water at 200km/h and up to a height of 140 meters. Seven tons of water are suspended in the air when the jet is activated. The water is drawn from a reservoir that filters the lake water to prevent algae and fish from being caught up in the propulsion. Activation and monitoring are carried out manually by retired SIG volunteers.
A wonderful way to discover one of Geneva's main symbols.
