Almost 6 years after discussing the creation of a group for Swiss university graduates or students, residing, or passing through Vancouver and a promising start, cancelled by COVID, the Swiss Alumni Group gathered once again in an attempt to create an active and vibrant group on Canada’s west coast.
Swiss Alumni were invited to meet at the Crate & Barrel on Granville Island in Vancouver on Thursday, March 27, to discuss what had brought them to Vancouver, what they enjoyed of their new home, and share some memories of the different university campuses they had studied on in Switzerland. The event was promoted on the EPFL Alumni Website and by the Swiss Consulate in Vancouver.
13 people met and enjoyed an evening sharing drinks and food, vowing to kick-start a fun and lasting group where the focus will be on some formal events, such as the Café Scientifique, and some informal events, like the Apéro. Other events were discussed, including a Soirée Raclette some time in the Fall. The common theme for these events was to find any opportunity to meet with other alumni, who either have called the Lower Mainland home for some years now or have just recently arrived.
The next event of the Swiss Alumni Group Vancouver will be a Café Scientifique, on Thursday, May 29, starting at 6:00pm at the Creekside Community Recreation Centre.
