Seen, trusted, promoted: making engineering talent visible
Data, dialogue and practical ideas for female engineers who want their talent to count
In theory, leadership is a meritocracy. In practice, who gets noticed, promoted and trusted is also shaped by dynamics we rarely talk about, such as visibility, career sponsorship and network. The fact is: talented women aren’t always seen as the best candidate, even when they are. The good news: what can be named can be changed.
The EPFL Alumni Women Club is teaming up with Advance to look beyond the surface and explore what makes engineering talent visible. Advance is Switzerland’s leading cross-company business association committed to equal opportunities for all – a network of more than 150 Swiss-based companies. Each year, Advance publishes the Gender Intelligence Report (GIR), a benchmark across Swiss companies, shedding light on to where women stand today, where the career path narrows, and what companies, leaders and talent can do about it.
Why join forces? Because the challenge is systemic, and so must be the response. The Women Club’s community and engineering perspective, combined with Advance’s data and corporate network, lets us move from awareness to action.
In this session, you will:
- Discover the latest insights from the Gender Intelligence Report and Advance Whitepapers
- Uncover the dynamics that influence who is seen as the best person for the job
- Exchange experiences and learn from each other: you are not alone
- Take away practical ways to make your talent, track record and ambition visible, individually and together
