Highly Interactive Online 2h-Workshop:

Leadership is all about influence. We ALL have the ability to influence others, and therefore the ability to lead those around us, whether we have a formal leadership role or not. Though many of us would rather avoid them, difficult conversations (like giving critical feedback, asking for a raise or something minor as asking a neighbor to not bring out the trash on non-trash days) are one of the key opportunities to develop our leadership skills and increase our influence at work. But why do they often go awfully wrong? How can we make them go in the direction that we intend and even leverage them to better important connections at work?

The Difficult Conversations framework presented in this workshop is part of the most successful trainings for leadership and Emotional Intelligence, “Search Inside Yourself”, developed at Google together with leading scientists and experts from Emotional Intelligence and mindfulness. This workshop will provide you with a proven, ready-to-apply framework that will guide you to identify the real issues involved in any difficult conversation, so that you can leverage the opportunities in them and become more skillful in your communication, leadership and emotional intelligence skills. You will have the opportunity test the 5-step model to prepare & start a difficult conversation of your own in breakout sessions during this workshop.

Course content:

  • Influence and Leadership: Exploration of the concept that leadership is rooted in the power to influence, regardless of formal authority, and how this shapes interactions.
  • Navigating Difficult Conversations: Techniques for handling challenging discussions, from giving feedback to requesting raises, and dealing with everyday interpersonal conflicts.
  • Difficult Conversations Framework: Introduction to the Difficult Conversations framework, derived from the "Search Inside Yourself" program, focusing on identifying core issues and using them as leverage.

Course objectives:

  • Develop Leadership Skills: Gain the ability to harness opportunities in difficult conversations to enhance leadership capabilities and workplace influence.
  • Improve Communication: Learn to apply a 5-step model for preparing and initiating difficult conversations to improve clarity and understanding.
  • Enhance Emotional Intelligence: Strengthen emotional intelligence by becoming more adept at navigating the emotional landscape of challenging interactions.
