Visit of EPFL's Swiss Plasma Center

-

VAUD/VALAIS CHAPTER

07.11.2022

About 40 graduates had the opportunity to visit the Swiss Plasma Center (SPC) at EPFL on June 23, 2022. Professor Ambrogio Fasoli (PH'93), Full Professor (Basic Plasma Physics) and Director of the SPC, opened the doors of the Center following the annual general meeting of the Vaud-Valais branch, for a dive into a universe as fascinating as it is complex. The visit took place under the guidance of Yves Martin, Deputy Director of the SPC, and a good number of doctoral students and post-docs. The visit ended with an aperitif and dinner on the roof of the BC building.

The Swiss Plasma Center is one of the world's leading fusion research laboratories. Fusion is the principle that generates energy from the sun. It has the potential to provide a solution to the world's energy problems. With a wide range of research programs, all linked to different levels of education and training, the SPC works to advance our understanding of plasma physics and to develop fusion as an energy source.
