On April 20, the EPFL Alumni community in Japan gathered at the Swiss Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka for a special event around the roundtable “The Reality of Deepfakes”.

This unique occasion brought together a prestigious EPFL delegation, including Anna Fontcuberta i Morral, President of the EPFL; Sabine Süsstrunk,  Full Professor at EPFL Image and Visual Representation Laboratory; Sarah Kenderdine, Full Professor at EPFL Laboratory of Experimental Museology; Gaël Hurlimann, Head of Communication at EPFL; and Shoko Hanzawa, Head of Delegation at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Japan.

This event also marked a valuable moment of connection between the School’s leadership and its global community. A sincere thank you to the EPFL Alumni Osaka chapter, led by Aurelio Cortese (MSc SV 2012), for co-organizing the event, as well as to the Swiss Pavilion for their warm welcome.

A big thank you to all participants for making this meeting so meaningful!

📸 Relive this great moment
