EPFL Alumni Basel End-of-Year Event 2024: A Journey Through Jakob’s Basler Leckerly
On December 17th, the EPFL Alumni group in Basel gathered for a delightful end-of-year celebration at Jakob's Basler Leckerly, Switzerland’s oldest biscuit manufacturer.
The evening brought together 20 participants for a unique and engaging experience that celebrated (culinary) history, tradition, and camaraderie.
The event began with a fascinating 60-minute tour, during which attendees were taken on a journey through Jakob’s Basler Leckerly's 270-year history. We explored the origins of this iconic Basel treat, learned about the evolution of its original recipes, and admired the award-winning packaging designs that have nowadays helped preserve its legacy through the centuries. The story of Jakob's Leckerly provided a captivating glimpse into a family-owned business that has successfully upheld tradition while embracing innovation.
As a highlight, each participant had the chance to try their hand at packing biscuits—an activity that was both fun and rewarding!
The celebration continued with a cozy three-course dinner at Taverne Johann, where great food and lively conversations marked the perfect end to the evening. This gathering was a wonderful opportunity for members to connect, reflect on the past year, and share in the festive spirit.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended and made this event so special. A special thank-you goes to the owners & team of Jakob's Leckerly, as their story telling made all the difference.
Here’s to a successful 2024 filled with more enriching and enjoyable events!
