Project lead for WINGS (Walloon Innovations for Green Skies) initiative : High Precision Forging of Compressor Blades. Part of the EU Green Deal to develop innovative technologies to realize a "net-zero carbon footprint" airplane.
• €1.24 million joint project with Safran Aero Boosters to design, test, and scale manufacturing processes for next-generation jet engine compressor blades
• Production lines are being developed for Safran Blades new factory to be opened in 2025
Engineering consultant, materials characterization:
• Processing and characterization expert for European Space Agency project to develop new titanium alloy compositions for direct energy deposition
• Consultant for multiple small projects examining processing defects and damage including: prototype hyperloop rails for maglev trains, support brackets for airframes, wear of forging dies
Metal additive manufacturing engineer
NTU - NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY , Singapore - Permanent contract
From February 2020 to July 2022
Additive manufacturing engineer in the AddME group. I develop novel additive manufacturing techniques for site-specific microstructure control of metal alloys. This allows us to create metals with tuneable, spatially varying properties, with a wide range of industrial applications such as:
• Permanent, tamper-proof embedded product labels (biomedical, aerospace, law enforcement)
• Structural components with controlled deformation (automotive, aerospace)
• Artwork to be sent to the moon as part of the Moon Gallery exhibit (https://moongallery.eu/) in collaboration with artist Lakshmi Mohanbabu
